AMERIPEN Report: Packaging Industry Contributes $537.91 Billion to U.S. Economy

A new study released by AMERIPEN – the American Institute for Packaging and the Environment says that the economic impact of packaging in the USA is roughly equivalent to 2.50 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).

ISTA is now seeking bids on research project: Distribution Environment Data Collection Project: China

The work sought in this RFP is the creation of a technical report detailing the transport modes, storage, and handling involved in the distribution of CPGs, including last segments, in the representative land routes in China.

European partners research paper and board coatings
08/12/2021
A consortium of research organizations, including Materials and Packaging Research & Services at the University of Hasselt (UHasselt), Pack4Food at Ghent University, both in Belgium, and Fraunhofer IVV, Germany, is working with small businesses to develop and assess coatings for paper and board used as food packaging.

MSU School of Packaging gets $10.8 million donation from Packaging Leader Amcor

Michigan State University just received a $10.8 million gift from Switzerland-based Amcor to fund its School of Packaging. The gift will go towards establishing an Endowed Chair of Packaging Sustainability and support renovations to the School of Packaging building.

CETEA, Brazil, works on intelligent medical packaging

Underlining the critical role that packaging can play in specialized medical applications, a team from Brazil’s CETEA Packaging Technology Center is working on a three-year project to create intelligent and autonomous packaging for human organs awaiting transplant.
