IAPRI CAREER START AWARD at the 2020 World Conference

For the second time, IAPRI will present a $1,000 US award, sponsored by Dr. S Paul Singh to a first time presenter at the World Conference on Packaging to be held in Monterrey, Mexico. To enter the drawing all you have to do is have a research presentation accepted by the Scientific Committee.

Prestigious Student Exchange Scholarship 2020 Announced

Among many other highlights, the 2020 IAPRI World Conference on Packaging in Monterrey, Mexico (June 15-18) will host adjudication of the prestigious Student Exchange Scholarship, generously sponsored yet again this year by PepsiCo.

Members are encouraged to consider nominating an individual for the IAPRI Lifetime Achievement Award to be presented at the IAPRI World Conference held in June, 2020 in Monterrey, Mexico. The following outlines the nomination and award process.

World Conference Abstract Submission Deadline Extended
12/30/2019
The submission deadline of December 30, 2019 for abstracts and peer-reviewed papers. Has been extended until January 15, 2020 and the acceptance decisions will be between January 15 and March 2, 2020. As soon as it is accepted it will be announced. Fraunhofer institutes work on Nivea plastics recycling trial

Emphasising the contribution that research organisations can make to the growth sector of plastics recycling, Fraunhofer IVV in Germany worked throughout 2019 with brand-owner Beiersdorf to collect used polyethylene (PE) packaging, turn it into post-consumer recyclate (PCR) and use this recyclate in new bottles for its Nivea skincare brand.

Spanish project to establish test protocols for single-use wooden pallets

AIDIMME, Spain, has started work on a project to help regional producers of single-use wooden pallets compete with reusable Euro pallets, in part by the creation of standards for quality control, given that the only ISO standard in this area seems unhelpful.

BAM will create joint chemistry and materials science research centre with University of Birmingham

Germany’s BAM has extended an existing agreement with the University of Birmingham (UoB), UK, for a further three years, with planned co-operation including the creation of a joint research centre for Chemistry and Materials Science.
