Board of Director Openings in 2020

IAPRI’s Leadership Committee is beginning the process of looking for candidates for the IAPRI board. If you are Interested in the that possibility, request the Director Guidelines and Candidate Search Form from Ed Church at sg@iapri.org. We have openings for Full Member and Corporate Member representatives. The deadline to submit the forms is January 31, 2020.

A Zoom Conference call meeting of the IAPRI Board of Directors took place on October 16, 2019 from 9:00 am - 10:45 am EST in the US. Here are the main points from the meeting:

IAPRI announces membership dues increase for 2020 for Full and Affiliate Memberships.

The board of directors has accepted a modest increase of $25 to $675. This is the first increase in several years and has been approved to help us cover increased operating costs associated with the new membership management platform and bank fees associated with payment by credit card and wire transfers.

The IAPRI symposium moves into a new space, IAPRI Conferences to fresh venues

The IAPRI Board’s decision this year to change the “symposiums” to Member Conferences and the erstwhile “conferences” to World Conferences has been well received by all members. As briefly discussed by the Secretary General in his comment piece in the July newsletter, this change doesn’t remove symposia from IAPRI’s list of activities.

IAPRI researchers, are you currently listed in the IAPRI Researcher Directory? This is where companies or people can search for a packaging researcher with expertise within a specific area of interest. If you are the primary contact or an additional contact at an IAPRI member institute you too can be listed in the IAPRI Research Directory under up to five areas of specialization.

Virginia Tech publishes pallet sustainability guidance

The Center for Packaging and Unit Load Design (CPULD) at Virginia Tech, USA, has published a white paper entitled ‘Pallets make the world go round’, with the explainer that this examines ‘circular versus linear economies and their effects on the pallet industry’.
