IAPRI’s 2019 Symposium at the University of Twente provides 20/20 vision

Earlier in June, the ‘green lung’ of the University of Twente’s lush campus outside Enschede, the Netherlands, was an appropriate setting for lively debates about sustainability – as well as many other aspects of packaging - as IAPRI’s 29th Symposium got underway. IAPRI members Michigan State University (MSU) School of Packaging, USA, and the University of Twente, the Netherlands, have been featured in an article on the online platform PackagingInsights discussing the importance of specialised packaging education.

Smart device measures ‘peelability’

Fraunhofer IVV in Dresden, Germany, has developed a new device for measuring how easily peelable the ‘peelable’ lidding on thermoformed plastics packaging actually is. The Pack Peel Scan system, which is equipped with machine learning, will be demonstrated at the K 2019 show in Düsseldorf, Germany (16-23 October).

IAPRI Changing Symposiums to Member Conferences and More!

The IAPRI board has made a subtle and intelligent change in its usage of the word Symposium. The board recognized that these events did not meet the true definition of a Symposium. So the 29th Symposium on Packaging in June in the Netherlands was the last usage for this type of member only event.
