“Candidates” implies an individual or a group of normally 2-4 individuals who have actively cooperated in research leading to a single breakthrough that has had a significant impact on the forestry and forest products or related industries. Nominations are accepted by e-mail, postal mail or via the internet, www.mwp.org, at any time of the year and are considered by the MWP Selection Committee in a continuous process. Candidates will be judged and graded initially based on this short nomination. Nominators of short-listed candidates will then be requested to provide full details of the candidate’s biography, publications and patents, together with a detailed justification and citation for the Prize. Nominations are reviewed by the Committee and by appointed peer scientists, forest and industry managers, and related consumer specialists over a 3-year period. The Prize-winner(s) is announced by the Board early in each calendar year. As far as possible the nomination details should be obtained without directly involving the candidate. The nomination process is kept as secret as possible until a final announcement is made. Candidates may not nominate themselves for the Prize.
